'Healing Chant' R&D

Project type

Choreography

Date

2026

Location

London

Narina has been exploring from the beginning of 2026 a new idea, by drawing inspiration from Romanian folk dances and traditional gatherings where weaving, crocheting, traditions, work, and all sorts of information was passed on from a generation to another.
During this summer she organised a small R&D at the beginning of July at Middlesex University. The idea was then further explored, when she led a session at The Playground Rambert on 17th of July, where she explored the same concept in a larger group setting. During this session Narina also collaborated with musician Bobby Demers, creating together a contemporary atmosphere for the piece.
The piece combines joyful group movement, circles, skipping, jumping, and repeated patterns, with ritual-like movement based in the Graham and release movement vocabulary, bringing a contemporary touch. The outcome means to showcase how community and experience-led wisdom can open paths, bringing joy, purpose, and fulfilment, in contrast with our reality, where people seem to be lost and disconnected.
This piece is currently still in development, and Narina is actively looking for opportunities to perform smaller sections of the piece to gather reach, and funding opportunities to develop the work further.
